New MA Texting Law in effect September 30th

September 22nd, 2010

On September 30, two new safe driving laws will take affect in Massachusetts.

1 – Texting While Driving will be illegal for all drivers.

The penalties are:

– 1st offense-$100 assessment
– 2nd offense-$250 assessment
– 3rd or subsequent offense-$500 assessment

Drivers cannot use any mobile electronic device to write, send, or read an electronic message including text messages, emails, instant messages, or accessing the internet.

2 – Junior operators, those under the age of 18, will not be able to use their phones at all, not for texting or talking.

The penalties for junior operators are:

– 1st offense-180-day license suspension
– 2nd or subsequent offense within 3 years-1 year license suspension
– $500 reinstatement fee

Hurricane Preparation Notice

September 2nd, 2010

Due to the coming storm, the BOT is urging all homeowners to store all trash cans in your garage and secure any loose items on your deck by 7pm Friday. This will prevent any objects or debris from blowing around the neighborhood and potentially becoming a hazard.
